Down at Solway Books, the lights are glistening. We have a season of special events and opening times to help you find the right Christmas gift for your family and friends. We get into the seasonal spirit with our annual festive afternoon on Wednesday 7th of December. From 1pm until 6pm we'll be serving mulled wine and mince pies while customers can take advantage of ten per cent off all purchases. Come along and browse through our wide range of new and second hand books, gifts, bookmarks, jigsaws, jewellery, games and children's books and toys. You're sure to find something for all the family. The following day, Thursday the 8th of December Kirkcudbright shopkeepers will be holding a special late night shopping event and we'll be joining our fellow traders by staying open until 8pm. Make a date in your diary for Saturday the 17th December when we're holding a special Beltie Day at Solway Books. There will be a chance to meet the author, Jayne Baldwin, and illustrator, Pauline James, of the fabulous children's book 'The Belties of Curleywee Farm.' The book, launched at this year's Wigtown Book Festival, tells the charming story of two Belted Galloway calves, Finlay and Flora. We'll be holding two activity sessions at 11am and 2pm when youngsters can take part in crafts relating to the book and there will also be a storytime. Tickets are free but limited for the craft sessions so be sure to come along and book your place as soon as you can at the shop. If you miss any of these events don't worry there are still plenty of opportunities to find your perfect gift at Solway Books. We're staying open until 7pm every Thursday until Christmas and we're also open every Sunday from 11am until 4pm.
